Tuesday, June 16th, 2009Pumpkin Polenta +
Monday, June 15th, 2009Tonight I had a variation on a dish Rue first made for me based on a Rachel Ray recipe. Well I twisted it up even a bit more!
—————The stuff
1 cup cornmeal (aka polenta)
2.5 cups homemade chicken stock
3 cloves of garlic
1.5 sweet Italian chicken sausages
a bit of onion
1 cup of VT chedder cheese
a few mushrooms
handful of cilantro (Fresh from my garden) or parsley
a generous spoonful of pumpkin puree
——————–The instructions
mix the boling chicken stock with the cornmeal and pumpkin in one pan, stor like crazy so it doesnt burn
throw the sausage, onion, garlic and shrooms in a pan with olive oil and slightly brown that stuff
turn the heat off the polenta, stir in the cheese
get a big bowl mix it together and toss the cilantro on top!
Now grab your spork and pour a beer (Im drinking Lagunitas’s Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale)
Toss a LP on the turntable (Areosmith anyone?)
EAT!
Dandelions
Saturday, June 6th, 2009Well, I, and everyone else I know, am overrun with Dandelions. The thing is, these pesty “weeds” are entirely edible. In my newly dug beds the leaves are still small so I plucked them up root and all.
I have bags of them here at the farm for free. And I found this awesome site with a million and one things to do with the harty Dandelion. Check it out!

The Micro-Farm
Saturday, June 6th, 2009I have torn up my lawns and planted a free micro-farm. The goal of the micro-farm is to be able to not only grow food for myself but for my neighbours and those in need. The goods on the farm are free! It’s kinda like Chicken Little except for Im not pissed that no one is helping me. I am hoping to do a few things with the farm:
- grow food for my own family
- sponsor a couple families in need by getting them a bag of veggies throughout the season
- start a food not bombs in North Adams
- encourage my neighbours to start growing food stuff
I was not raised on a farm, in fact I grew up in the berbs of So. Cal. I have never done this before and I’m not quite sure what I am doing now. I just know that having grass (the lawn type) to water, and mow is the biggest waste of reasources.
I will be posting info about the micro-farm, what is available for pick up, and recipies and stuff here on glaze0101.com
